A fan guild project with serious features
In 2007, we built MoreDrama, the online home for our own World of Warcraft guild.
Though a fan project, the site went far beyond a simple guild page — it became a full portal where members could organize, learn, and interact.
Features and highlights
-
🛡️ Armory integration: players logged in with their WoW accounts, and the system pulled character stats — enabling proper DKP and activity tracking.
-
📚 Guild Handbook with dungeon guides and tactics (initially created by us, later expanded by members).
-
📖 Glossary for WoW terminology, especially English terms.
-
💬 A lively vBulletin 3.4.0 forum, buzzing with guild discussions.
-
📰 News, achievements, and guild charter sections.
-
⏳ Lived for exactly 1 year and 2 months — the lifetime of the guild itself.
Why it mattered
MoreDrama wasn’t a commercial project — it was a fan side project for our own guild.
But even here, we brought in serious functionality: real integrations, structured content, and a strong community platform.
👉 It’s a great reminder that sometimes even fun projects deserve professional execution — and can become the heartbeat of a community, however long it lasts.
