An early attempt at a mobile tech blog

An early attempt at a mobile tech blog

In 2001, we worked on Celluar.INFO, a news-style website dedicated to the booming world of mobile phones.

Looking back, it can be described as an early prototype of what would later be called a tech blog — combining news, previews, and reviews in one platform.

Key details of Celluar.INFO

  • 📰 News and reviews on mobile phones.

  • 👤 User registration with access to additional content.

  • 🎵 Downloads of ringtones and other utilities for registered members.

  • 💻 Built with Perl and database integration.

  • ⏱️ The site was launched and ran for some time, but did not gain traction.

Significance

Celluar.INFO was a forward-looking concept: a media-style website with both editorial content and digital downloads.

Although the project was discontinued after launch when the client decided not to continue, it stands as an early attempt at building what we would today recognize as a tech media platform.
